English Pre Req

Are English courses (ENGL 1301 & 1302) required pre req's or optional for med school? If required, do you recommend that I take those before the science courses?

English prerequisites depend on the school, many require them. This info is listed on the Amcas book under each school's page. But unless English is a second language, there's not really a need to take English classes prior to science courses. I believe that all schools will allow completion of prerequisites anytime prior to enrollment; if accepted for fall 2009, one could complete the English classes in summer, 2009. This presumes you already have a strong grasp of English, which is needed for the MCAT verbal reasoning & writing sections.

Doesn't matter what order you take the courses.
Take them where they best fit in your schedule.

Get a copy of MSAR or check individual school websites for details about prereqs.
