Several of the schools I plan to apply to require 1 year of english. I don't have an official English 101 listed on my transcript. Instead, I have an Eastern European Literature course (listed as SLAV ###) and a Greek Mythology course (listed as CLAS ###). Can I list these as english classes on my AMCAS application (both required extensive reading and multiple papers)? I am ready to take an English course this fall through my university's continuing education department if necessary or to be on the safe side. Thanks for your advice!

does your school not have an english requirement?

I placed out of the required freshman english classes. The only other class I needed to meet my graduation requirements was a lit. class, and my Eastern European Lit. course did that for me.

I have a different English requirement and I figure I can ask here without posting a new thread:

Some schools ask for a year of English, other schools place emphasis on composition. I've only had one English class so far (The writing and reading class that you take your freshman year), but I'm signed up next semester for an English class called "Introduction to English Grammar" an upper division English class that Eng majors take during their Junior year. Should I apply to schools that ask for a year of composition (UCLA/Harvard/others that I haven't found yet)?
