What about writing classes in other departments or literature classes in other languages?

I know that vanderbilt was OK with not taking writing classes in the dept... also I know that some schools are fine with AP's in Eng... you can never generalize and give an answer... the best way is to call the school and ask them what they mean by their writing requirement.
