I studied for the MCAT all summer and didn't do as well as I'd like. I'm taking the DAT on October 20th but thinking about pushing it back a week. Do you think that gives me enough time to brush up on sciences and get through Crack PAT? :scared:

It's so much harder studying for the DAT during the school year. I forgot how nice it was to study for tests in the summer when you can devote whole days to reading...*sigh*...I guess it's time to start the coffee addiction again.........😴

It all depends. If you studied hard for the MCAT and you still have a lot of that material fresh in your mind, then a month of studying might be enough. Use your time well to prepare and work really hard if you are taking it though. It is an easier test than the MCAT, but it is by no means easy. I also suggest you pick up a DAT specific book like the kaplan blue book to get some DAT practice tests and to get a better idea of how these two tests are different - DAT does not have physics, but does have a math section and the PAT section, and the biology section on the DAT also includes stuff on plants and ecology.

If you are planning on applying for this cycle, get your application in ASAP as its starting to get late for applying. If you aren't going to apply until next cycle, I would suggest putting the test off for a while longer to give yourself more time to study. Also, if you are just now switching to an interest in dentistry, make sure you get some dental specific shadowing in before applying so you know what you are getting into - plus schools look negatively on an application without any dental experience. Anyway, good luck.

Thanks for your input! Yeah, I'm applying for this cycle and I submitted my application last week....I know since I'm applying this late that I need to do amazing on the DAT so I'm taking it Oct. 27th because I feel any time earlier than that wouldn't really benefit my score...

Brush up on the parts that DAT covers that MCAT doesnt like plant biology etc. PAT, just do many questions.
