enrollment ratios, please explain

hi All.

I have a quick question, don't make fun if this is ridiculous.

can someone explain to me what the enrollment ratios mean?
like if its 6:7:3, what in the world does that mean?

Like I understand if it says 2:1 (maybe for every 2 ppl interviewed, 1 is accepted?)

but what do the tri ratio mean, especially when the first number is lower than the second like above?

I'd greatly appreciate some kind of explanation!

Where did you get this tri-ratio from?

I know for the PSAR ratios, the ratio is # of applicants/seats available, but I've never seen a tri-ratio before.

Are you sure you're not confusing the colon with a period?
It might look like 6.7:3, meaning 6.7 applicants for every 3 accepted

Are those actual numbers? It could possibly be applied:interviewed:accepted but with the 6:7:3 it doesn't work.
