How important is knowing the actual enzymes messed up v. recognizing the disorder?

For Step 2 I actually never had an enzyme deficiency question. it was always the disorder. Now, this was a while ago, but I am almost 100% certain they are a waste of time. Especially for payoff rewards. You could spend hours learning enzyme names and deficiencies, and then only get one question on the test. Not worth it, in my book.

Anyone who took it recently want to chime in?

Is there a big component of genetic disease on this thing...I haven't really even thought about that stuff since step 1

i had two of them and they were pretty basic. so i suggest you go over them a few days before your test.

Often the disease is PKU..

I personally didnt have any on my exam last week

I had zero on my test. From what I understand, if there actually WAS a question it would be on something that's very very common, immediately life threatening or easily treatable and important to ID quickly. Examples are galactosemia and PKU. Maybe something like Von Gierkes. I would spend <30 min studying these though.
