So i took my the DAT for the first time today and completely sucked at it, still I'm going to break it down and hopefully it will help someone. will try again in three months ^-^
Bio 19
OC 20
GC 17
RC 17
QR 13 lol!
TS 19
AA17
Anyhow, i dedicated 1 month to study since i am running a full time business and thats basically the only chance that i got to study, started March 1st...Test April 2nd.
Gold standard (sucked) wasted 2 week 600$ and nothing i learn show up today, should've listen to sdn lol
Topscore (ok) timing is most similar, but question are 2x harder on actual DAT
Kaplan (good for definitions) should have focus on this before wasting entire 2 weeks on gold standard
Destroyer-( amazing!) if i did anything right on this test it was thanks to this!!
Feralis- (discover this HERE 3 days before the test, too bad because it is AWSome!!
Bio- i had 1 question relying on definitions, everything else was conceptual. Plants, meiosis, evolution, phylum, animal behaviors, muscles. For the next test i would focus on individual definitions then on the big pictures more, more then half of the actual test was like comparing random stuff to actual biological systems!!! understanding is the key!
OC- if i started my study and end it with destroyer my score will be much higher. ROAD Map destroyer is basically all you need 🙂 i will solidify my understanding of the basic for my next study then move on to conceptuals.
GC- 80% conceptual, 20 % math, dont stress too much on the math, calculations are very basic, if its not skip immediately and come back when you have extra time. Understanding is the key again!!
RC- this was hell for me, English as a second language, i had like 10 minutes left when i was on question 19 >.<! i was so frustrated Searching and destroy and it didn't help at all. but i NOW i know its secret lol. Basically out of 15 question there will be like 2-3ish is conceptual the rest of them is straight out of the page. DO Not waste your time with the conceptual unless ur a freaking genius!!! So my next approached i will called it the "ESL Search and actually complete" lol. 1) write down on your page the 3 key words from 3 different question then keep those image in your head and scan 2) when you found one out of those 3 words stop answer 3) replace with the next questions key word. I am for sure that if i did it this way ill get a much better score. and again SKIP the tone type of question until you finish the section.
QR- hahhahaha, i realized that i was stuck on 3 problems for 5 to20 minutes each!!! lol however, i can tell you that as i skip most questions after are baby step. so note to Self and future DAT takers, if you see a question that you cannot solve Right Away!!!, move on and guarantee there will be easy questions right after will make it up for that one ( 20 minutes on a problem out of 45 minutes >.<!!!)
Anyway the key on the DAT is timing, DO lots of practice to familiarized with the pace. And i can guarantee that 1 month is not long enough to study for this test. Seriously atleast 2 full charge month or 3 relax months to study. Ofcause good luck if you do 🙂
So overall 17= no way in hell for an acceptance= more study= MOTIVATIONS!!! yeah
ok Now i have 2 question for Y'all
1st) how does the whole letter of recommendations work? does it have to be an online thing? can i just have my recommenders write the letter, sign, put it in an envelop give it to me so i can submit it when i applied?
2nd) if i submit my application in june with a 17, then have it replace with a higher score in august, would that be a problem for the up coming cycle?
GPA. 3.4sc 3.5 overall
Good luck people, i hope everybody do better then me on this test so i can do better then them on my next 😛
