I'm really enjoying being at the epicenter of this historic megablizzard. We have not one, but two snow days. I've not had snow days since middle school. And this is on the two days after a major exam, hence we have nothing to do 🙂 On to Netflix movie #3 for the day...

You get snow days???? I'm on the east coast and obv we arent getting the snow as bad as you guys are, but still we've had well above 6 inches multiple times and my school refuses to close. Making the 80% of MS2's who commute come in through that much snow = not cool.

And last time they made us show up for gross path lab and sent an email telling us it was still on, only to have all of us slog in to find a note on the door saying it was canceled. No email about it or anything.

The "storm" Atlanta had a few weeks ago gave us 4 snow days! Only had to go in on Friday and they gave us the weekend off and Monday was MLK Jr Day. It was a ridiculous break, I dubbed it "snow break"

We got an ice day today. We only got 2-3 inches of snow last night but tons of freezing rain, so they cancelled class.

I believe this is the 3rd day we've had off this year due to weather.

woooooo, snow day!

I go to school in SoCal. You guys and your snow days are lame 😀

okay, that's just sorta ridiculous. As someone who's lived in the Rust Belt all her life and generally loves snow, I get peeved by cities who don't know how to handle the stuff and just randomly call snow days. Like those infamous DC government holidays when there looked like there was maybe 6 inches on the ground. They're doing cleanup outside my apartment and it looks like there is at least 2 feet, so even though it's not snowing anymore today it's still well deserved.

Eh, I'll take my snow days to your smog and propensity for major fires any day. I might be in the minority here, but if you were trying to make me envious, didn't work, I go to Cali a lot (a sibling there) and I've found out that I'm definitely a snow belt girl.

We have had 2 snow days so far (totals around 1 ft, and the temperature is ridiculous).

The bad thing is, since our lectures are podcast, they put up last years lectures and told us to stay caught up (test on Fri). So its like a reverse snow day; the teachers get off, and we have to teach ourselves.

At least I dont have to drive in this any more 🙂.

I live in Buffalo, NY and they cancelled school yesterday.. THE DAY BEFORE it even started snowing here 😱

I hate snow days. I'm a cali boy who is now in NYC.. first the snow isn't even that bad (this is coming from someone who never lived in snow before). but mostly im whining b/c i know since we missed our lectures today we are going to pay for it with longer days with more crammed material later ... those days make my head hurt🙁.

Yeah, our Friday lectures and lab are doubled now. Albeit I think it's pretty fair to call today a snow day because of plowing logistics. There is absolutely no way anybody with a 2WD car would be able to safely make it to campus today. (or even an AWD coupe... I helped bail somebody out whose chassis was suspended on snow and all four wheels were just spinning)

We had 2 snow days here at another Midwestern school as well. They announced late on Monday afternoon that our scheduled activities for Tuesday had been rescheduled and early yesterday morning they sent another email saying we were out for today as well. This just provides time to get caught up.

This happened to us last year on the east coast during snowpocalypse. It may have been cool while I wasnt in school, but double lectures for 5 days was brutal. I still have such a negative visceral reaction to even seeing slides from ppt's that were presented to us during the week after, it's crazy.

I was given a "hurricane day" this fall when Earl was threatening us. Except it ended up going further out to sea than thought, so I ended up with a sunny (but windy) 3 day weekend. No such luck with snow days though, even though we've been slammed hard this winter.

um, so they just extended our snow days to pretty much the whole damn week...we were actually supposed to do our rural clinical experience this week after our major exam Monday, which involves driving anywhere from 20-hundreds of miles to get to our site, and yeah, that's still not happening. Even though the snow stopped about 15 hours ago, I just checked on my car and it's surrounded by a thigh high mound and the tires on my pathetic little subcompact were just spinning when I attempted to get out. I'm getting a bit sick of bumming in my apt, and man, I really wish I had an SUV right now.

I dunno if they are going to have us make up this clinical week, but it beats quadruple lectures or whatever. We have no new material to study. I could not have asked for better timing.

... we haven't gotten any snow this week (it was almost 60 today), but we got a half snow-day last week. The people who had afternoon class got out way earlier than usual and our night class that night was canceled.

Totally screwed up my schedule, and it was like 3 inches, tops.

psssshh, I'm in Vermont. They NEVER cancel school here for snow.

ok, i think once the university closed for a day four years ago when we got a 27" blizzard

Yeah, 4 years ago my undergrad in VT closed because we got about 30 inches in 24 hours. That was the first time classes had been canceled in over 30 years. I think UVM also closed that day. But they haven't since.

I went to undergrad at U of MN and the first time it closed for weather-related reasons (first time ever in 150 years at that time) they got like 2ft of snow in what seemed like a few hours and the plows couldn't keep up.
