Epilepsy fellowship: the way i see/rate the program:

Among those program you have mentioned:

1) UCSF ( good mix of cases and lots of cases+ opportunity for research)

2) UCLA ( good mix of cases+ opportunity for research)
Uni of Wash ( good mix of cases+ opportunity for research)

3) Stanford Uni ( probably more research than cases)

xxx A good epilepsy program should offer a wide range of cases and ideally you should be able to participate in lots of cases ( depth/grid/Ecog/IOM/continuous critical care EEG). Research can range from rat and mouse brain to patient involving imaging (fMRI/MRI/MEG) or drug/device trial or playing with fancy EEG's. To my mind UCSF fills all these boxes; UCLA will be the next one.

In that same note ; overall in the country some good programs:

First tier programs ( my rankings): they are not in any particular order// based on patient volume and range of cases, research opportunity; availability of mentors, program reputation

Hopkins
Mayo/Rochester
Cleveland Clinic
Mass General
UCSF, UCLA
Columbia
