I took a year off between internship and post-doc and will have all of summer to study for the EPPP. I'm sure taking the exam while not on post-doc or working helps with reducing the amount of study time.
Has anyone else had this experience? If so, how much time did you spend studying before you took the exam and passed?

Thanks!

Hi,
I had a similar experience & studied for a while. PrepJet was the program that worked for me. If you wanna chat more about my process email me at tstaehlin@gmail

Take care,

Rule of thumb I was told: 100 study hours. Some study prep companies encourage 250+ which is way overdoing it.

I focused on just studying for two months (wasn't working) and put in a little less (90 or so hours) and passed with psychprep written materials, audio, and hand me down practice tests. Lots of threads cover this...particularly "eppp practice test scores for those who passed" or something like that; many years of wisdom in that thread, so I'd look there for more detailed info from several folks.

You don't need a whole summer. Be disciplined, study every day, take a practice exam 6 days a week for a month, and you'll be fine.

Please get the EPPP done before they add EPPP Step 2. You will be glad you did.

What others said. Absolutely no need to go overboard on this. 100-150 hours is plenty to pass - I doubt I broke 200 and blew it out of the water.

Read AATBS materials through cover to cover twice. Took a bunch of practice exams. Reviewed weak sections again once. That was it. I think not stressing about it is as important as actually preparing. You do need to study, but this is not a big deal.
