Definitive treatment is best started by 3-5 months of age.
In an adult, the goal is to minimize the abnormal wear on the continuously errupting teeth. This may involve floating the cheek teeth and enamel points, reducing hooks on the upper PM2 and lower M3, and reducing incisor overbite. This may need to be done every 6-12 months.
An equine veterinarian with experience in dentistry or equine dentist is usually the best person to manage these.
