Hi, everyone,

A friend of mine with a master's degree in equine science is looking at taking the following equine massage course: http://www.equissage.com/request_equine_home.htm

Does anyone have any experience with this company or any of its graduates? She wants to attend a reputable, quality program. It's my understanding that the benefit to the horse is variable depending on the quality of the practitioner and the appropriate application of proper techniques (just like everything...). She really wants to be well-trained and do things properly.

Many thanks in advance for any thoughts!

No idea. Maybe try posting on VIN in alternative/holistic? Or search? If you have already done this nevermind...

I'm currently in the process of searching/evaluating the VIN archives. 🙂 I'll figure out if I want to stick my neck out and post there, too! Thanks for the suggesiton, though. 🙂

I figured I'd reach a broader audience of horsey people who might have experience with someone who graduated from the program. My friend is definitely going to do an equine massage program--but her biggest thing is finding a quality one. Since this one offers a home-study course (with practical requirements, as well as a certification exam in person), she was checking this one out.

I guess a better way to put it would be that I'm more interested in how reputable this program is rather than the possible therapuetic benefit. Thanks again!

🙂

If that's your goal maybe try posting on equinesite.com? That would reach a broad range of horsey people. Good luck!

I should now go study for clin path tomorrow!

Hi! I graduated from the equissage program, and I have worked on and off as a massage therapist ever since. I felt the program was well done, both on an anatomical and on a practical standpoint, and really prepares you so once you are done you know what to do to massage a horse, and the rest comes with practice 🙂 I highly recommend it!

Thank you! That is fantastic information. My friend is sending in her deposit this weekend. 🙂
