So i'll be applying to ER.. i have ER electives from September - December.

I was wondering, what is a "university" program? also, are they better than programs that are "not" university education/experience wise?

also can i "audition" in january?

Every Away is an audition. Usually, they are also an interview (as some will offer your interview while on rotations at the location). You don't do aways in your chosen field at a program you want to go to in the middle of interview season to get letters of recommendation. They ARE auditions. (1) You showed up (means you have interest in the program and programs like people who like them). (2) Make a good impression that is more meaningful than a 30 minute interview. (3) Interact with residents, find out if you "fit" in there.

What's a "University" program? Usually something with the word "University" in it. Yale-New Haven is part of Yale University; Hopkins Osler is part of John Hopkins University. However there are community hospitals that are affiliated with universities. For example, Hopkins Sinai is a community hospital affiliated with John Hopkins University.
