ER Residency

I am years away from any kind of residency, but i was curious how ER residency hours compare to those of surgery or the other end those of say radiology. Do ER residents do shift work and not go on call? thanks for the time

It changes from month to month. When you are doing your months in the emergency department, you work shifts without call. Our schedule for the ED is four 10 hours shifts then two days off, etc... When we are off service (surgery, medicine, ob/gyn, ICU, CCU) we do call like every one else.
