I've been searching for two days now on companies and hospitals that hire and train Scribes. I have found tons but the catch is most are not in maryland, and the ones that are, are in locations about 50+ miles from home.😱
It also does not help that the initials for Maryland are MD so even when i type the full state name in my search get all types of results ending in MD (degree) and not MD (state)

I'm not looking for total convenience but I can't see myself driving 100+ miles (r/t) day for work. 🙁

I am a recent graduate, who lives on my own and has bills to pay, so I would need to work fulltime while retaking a few classes or pursuing a masters.

Are there any Scribe companies that have locations in Baltimore, MD or within 20miles? :xf:

P.S. Is it to much to ask for a competitive salary. Currently making $12/hr and anything less than that would put me in the red since I have to come out of pocket for school!!

PLEASE HELP!!!

I'm pretty sure EMSS has a site in maryland, im not 100% tho. However if you are living on your own there is almost no way you can support yourself while working as a scribe. First 90 days are 8.00, and the after that you start to make 10.00. The company is cheap and does not negotiate starting salaries

I spoke with a rep, EMSS only hires part-time.
Scribe america also has the same pay rate. Since my current job is mostly mid day working before/after or overnight as a scribe would leave me w/o sleep or function. I would nt be abl to catch up

I have a friend who just became a scribe in MD (near DC), but I don't know the details of it. I definitely know of a couple hospitals in Northern VA, but they start you off at $8/hr, and will increase you to $10 after a few months, but no higher than 10.

I think the pay rate is the general... i saw one place that pays minimum wage, which is about +7.80... smh.

It's interesting becuase several years ago the pay for scribes were btw $10-15...
My things have change..

The problem is, is that these companies view the job as a "paid internship" so in their mind they'll pay either minimum wage or a little bit over it for the work you do. At EMSS apparently the company gets 20 dollars an hour for every shift covered by a scribe for 10 hours. And they pay each scribe 10 dollars an hour, so they basically take in half the money the hospital pays them. Personally I think that the hospital should take in the scribes, cut out EMSS and pay the scribes 13-15 dollars an hour, which would still be cheaper than paying the actual company AND the scribes get a significant raise. Everybody wins, just cut out the middleman

I could not agree more. It seems as though they are paying EMSS for training the scribes... the hospital should higher a fulltime trainer and then all the scribes they could need. It would be cheaper than the 20/hr committment, for a fulltime scribe for 2years....

SMH

How to beat the system and Win...smh😡
