I've noticed a lot of you folks talking about your roles as ER techs, or Nurse assistants, orderlies, etc., at the hospital, but I can't seem to find a similar position at the hospitals local to where I reside. Are there any Canadians in here that could tell me if we have similar positions here? I'm in Vancouver, looking specifically at Vancouver General Hospital, UBC hospital, St. Pauls, but will go outside of Van to any of the suburban locations as well.

The licensing is different here of course, but I've got an equivalent to an EMT-B, and about a year of experience as a patient care provider/first-aid attendant, if that helps to answer my question at all.

Thanks.

Methinks I'm the only Canuck in here. 😳

Alas!

Sorry... I even tried navigating some Web stuff. Vancouver General apparently employs plenty of nurses in Emergency (which appears to be part of the Dept of Surgery, btw), but either doesn't use techs, or has just the right number of them at the moment. Providence/ St. Paul's likewise (where EM residents seem to be part of Family Practice) has listings for nurses and paraprofessionals from ultrasonographers to art therapists, but no emergency technician types.

Mayhap things are different indeed, in the Great White North.

Ah, 'tis a shame me friend. By the way, that was extremely nice of you to search that up for me. 😀 👍 I s'pose I should try and work as an illegal immigrant down south. You can hook me up right???

Or maybe I should just stay content with my volunteer position and wait patiently until I'm an MS-III for that hospital work. 😎
