I registered for the Step 2 PE in June and the earliest date I could get was in February. Will programs hold off on interviewing me because of this? I'm sure a lot of other people are in the same position as the dates were just not available. Also, why would the NBOME disadvantage DO's by having so few dates available?

Some may, many won't care. It's hard to know whether a lot of other people are in the same boat, or if they all signed up to take the PE exam which is why your date is so far in the future.

I was just shocked that when I signed up in early June (for an $1100 exam) the earliest date available was in February. I would have thought three months or so would be a good lead time. Even if other students beat me to the punch that means that many are either also running late or are third-years, a scenario I find unlikely.
At any rate, either they won't care or I am screwed and applying again next year. Whatever will be will be.

Most of us signed up October/November of 3rd year. Even at that point, quite a few were taken. You're just late - gotta understand that with only 1 testing site, gotta apply early.

I'd keep checking to see if any dates open up. Sometimes people cancel their test date.
