I want to get an EM residency, but being really competive and having failed step1(family death) I need to have IM as second choice. I have listed numerous EM memberships and my student membership of ACP. I have also geared my PS towards IM stating my desire and Sub-I rotation. Will I be overlooked at some IM programs because of my EM memberships? Any advice before I submit?
