I tried searching for this but my searches didn't produce satisfactory results.... Does anyone have an idea of the general timeline for ERAS applications, interviews, etc. As I understand it, ERAS opened July 1st (so we can start working on our applications online now), and we can start applying to residency programs September 1st. When do we start getting offers for interviews for the regular Match - before or after Dean's Letters go out November 1st? I know interview season is roughly November through January/February, but how late does it extend? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
You can get interview invitations before the Deans letters come out. I started interviewing in late September and did my last interview in early February just before submitting my rank list. I really got tired of eating "rubber chicken" and watching the "penquin parade". Your rank list has to be in around February 21st so you will not have any interviews after that unless you are interviewing for a slot outside the MATCH.

Different programs have different interview dates. Some will start interviewing in September and many will not hold interviews after mid January. Most of my interviews were in October so I scheduled a very light elective that month (Gastroenterology). I went on 20 interviews and ranked 12 programs. After about the third interview, I really knew what I wanted in a residency and was able to eliminate eight.

njbmd 🙂

P.S. I will be closing this thread as it is a duplicate of one in The General Residency Forum. The masses can post there if they wish.
