When a new message from a program is posted to you in myERAS is it automatically emailed to you?

Does anyone know if there is a time delay between these two events?

(I'm trying to figure out if I can simply check my email account for all messages, or if I need to check myERAS too.)

THANKS!

I always get them at the same time. So I guess ERAS message=email in your mailbox. I find checking email more convenient.

My personal experience, both for residency and fellowship apps was that the majority, but not all, of the messages came from both email and myERAS. I still checked myERAS daily or every other day which is how I noticed the discrepancies. I would still check once or twice a week just in case, it would suck to miss an invitation.

What is the Message Center?

The Message Center displays copies of e-mails sent by programs from their ERAS software. Because those e-mails go through the ERAS system, we are able to provide you with a copy, as a confirmation of delivery. However, the original message was sent to the e-mail account provided in your Profile.

PLEASE NOTE: The Message Center can only show you e-mails sent through the ERAS PostOffice. Messages sent outside of the ERAS system, such as direct e-mails from the program's own e-mail account, will not be captured in the Message Center.

You should check your e-mail account regularly for all e-mails. You should also check your Junk Mail Settings to ensure messages from programs were not sent there in error.

It's Amazing what you can find with a simple click on the ERAS webpage

Just to let you know...

Everything that's appeared on ERAS has appeared in my e-mail.

Everything that's in my e-mail is not on ERAS since some programs emailed me directly.

Sorry for the sarcasm...

Well, if you read some of the past threads, there have been a few folks who have reported that sometimes ERAS emails ended up in quarantine files and they never saw them.

Have no worries...they will come. If I can get an interview somewhere, anyone can get an interview.

I have no filters on my e-mail for that exact reason...

By the way, gmail does an excellent job of filtering spam appropriately. So you could always send your mail there, if your school's email either over- or under-filters.
