At what point do I have to start forking out USD for ERAS?

On Aug 15 itself when it opens and I register?
Or at some later date when the documents are actually transmitted?

I suppose it's out on some website somewhere. But it is so much easier to ask (and receive...)!

International banking just added a whole new dimension to the ERAS fun. And I don't mean north of the border!

What do you mean, when it opens on August 15th... I've already begun filling out my application and picking programs at ERAS. I believe you pay money to them when you submit your applications to programs, so no earlier than Sept. 2nd.

I just checked out the ERAS site yesterday...and boy is it long. I did the first 5 pages and I was spent!

Now, $60 for applying to 10 programs isn't too bad. I can shell out that much. 🙂

I really should stop using terms interchangeably.

Yes, ERAS is open.
But the NRMP registration only opens August 15th - and it's a separate step to register for that. I was simply wondering whether we had to pay with that step of registration.

But I'll go with your Sept 2nd, stormjen 🙂

NRMP, at least last year, was a separate fee and a separate procedure. You have to register with NRMP if you are going through the match, and last year you had to register with NRMP between early summer and middle of december, even though you couldn't start ranking until january or so. You can register for NRMP later than december, but they will charge you even more. Just fork over the cash now, you'll be happy later on.

And yes, on September 2nd or whenever it is, you just push the button and your CV is now in the hands of dozens of strangers who will judge you based on your picture, your grades, and your references. Hopefully, you will all have a nice picture. If not, feel free to use mine. 😉

Hmm, they only get to see your photo after they offer you an interview, right?
