Hey everyone,

I understand that programs can view our application on September 15; but, applications open on September 10th (or 9th, can't remember which day).

So, if I apply (as in, pay the fee and submit my applications), on the 9th, it will count as me applying on the first day. But, I'm waiting on a letter that won't be uploaded/approved until the 14th. So, my questions are:

1) Even though I applied on the "opening day" but submit my last letter prior to the day (15th), will it still count as me applying on the first day?

2) Can programs tell when my letters and what not were uploaded between the 9th and the 15?

I hope my question makes sense. Thanks!

We all got an email from ERAS yesterday that stated that applications open on September 6th, but program will be able to see them on September 15th..

So you can apply on the 6th and upload or add that letter later (whenever...) and yep it will count as you applied the first day. Many people (including myself) won't have all their letters the 1st day. Not sure about your second question. I guess a PD in SDN can answer that.

Presumably your letter writers will also date their letters in the file they upload, and that's probably the one that will "count" if your letter is years old or something.

Your application will be timestamped for the 15th. If your letters are all in before that, your application will also be complete at that time. Some programs care about letters before the interview, and others don't. So how much a delayed letter affects you will vary significantly.
