I just had about the most interesting lecture of my college career today on beta agonists and antagonists. My med chem professor is the guy who first synthesized esmolol (Brevibloc) which is a beta blocker with a very short half life used during MIs and severe ischemia. I just thought it was cool b/c sometimes on ER I hear them say "esmolol STAT!!!" Now I can be all like, "hey, my professor invented that". 😀
