Hi there,

I am a texas resident. And I keep writing my essay for prompt, "Describe any personal characteristics and/or important challenging experiences you have had that will contribute to the diversity of or provide educational benefits to the medical/dental student body. Limit your response to 2500 characters." but then end up deleting it because I feel like I don't have much to give to my student body. What is something I can talk about here?

Take Care

If you feel that you don't have anything to contribute to the student body, then you're probably right. Just leave it blank. No point in trying to stretch the truth.

Write a draft first, whatever comes to your mind and don't censor yourself. You're probably judging your work as you write and this stops creativity. You ofcourse have a lot to offer as your life is unique to yourself. Don't sensor or judge your work as you write. You can have as many drafts as you want-noone will know when they read your essay, be confident and trust yourself! Some of us have to work for our essays and it can be painful but beautiful in the end. Ask someone to go over it before submition

All the best

Idk if it will help, but this is from the MN supplemental app statement of contribution to diversity, what they consider to be "diverse" contributions:

"geographic diversity (e.g. rural), first generation college student, financial need, disadvantaged educational background, racial and ethnic diversity, evidence of outstanding leadership, special talents, high academic potential, unique work or service experience, community involvement, experience and/or interest in research or teaching, and interest in providing dental services to underserved areas."

Thank you all!!!! I am still brainstorming....so more ideas are always welcome.
