Esterification requires heat?

I was wondering if esterification of a carboxylic acid required heat.

I know that turning an ester into a carboxylic acid via either Acid or Base requires heat. Just wondering if acid catalyzed esterification of a CA was the same.

I imagine it would be pretty close to equilibrium. Heat would help boil off formed ester though (generally going to have a lower boiling point than the carboxylic acid due to dimerization of the acid)
