Ok so i just got a question wrong that i knew the answer to but got wrong because i didn't know what the hell ethyl benzoate was.

I was thinking that ethyl benzoate is Ph-CO-CH2-CH3...but sadly..it's not? so my q is, what do you call Ph-CO-CH2-CH3?

yes ethyl benzoate, and other way around is phenyl ethanoate.

grr to be quite honest, i think this is very counter intuitive. ok so, the substituent attached to the oxygen of the ester is stated FIRST, not the other way around...

i thought that since the benzene is connected to-oate that the benzene is connected to the carbonyl group via an oxygen.
