If you get an email from the PD after your interview saying they liked you, etc, how do you respond? Or is it simply understood that there should be no response? I already sent my thank you note, but I don't want it to seem like I'm ignoring their email. I am clueless about these interview mind games 😕

Ditto. They probably sent the letter to everyone else too, though. You should do the same.
