Hello. I hope someone here can shed some light on this issue as I've read conflicting information on other boards. A close relative has a US undergraduate degree in chemistry and is now enrolled in a a 6-year medical program at a well-respected Western European university. He received advanced standing for biochemistry, genetics, and statistics at this European medical school. Once this person graduates from said medical school, would he experience any licensing problems if he decided to practice in the US? Thank you for your input. 🙂

If the hours are from a US college, it should not be much of a problem. Also depends how much he was exempted from. But I'm sure he will get through fine. But the state medical bords do scrutinize course work very carefully. GL

If he graduates from a foreign medical school, he'll just have to take the USMLE like every other FMG.

be careful with advanced standing. recieving med school credit for any course not completed at another MED SCHOOL may be trouble...but, if he can demonstrate that they are undergrad courses in an undergrad program, he will likely be allright.

but, it is far better to take the classes and not have the issues later, IMHO

I guess it all depends on his performance and his USMLE scores....
