This is just a question for all the SDNers who went through a previous application cycle....

When you applied to all your schools, were there some schools that just NEVER got back to you with an answer?? LIke no rejection, interview or waitlist notice?

Because I sent in my application in September and still have not heard anything from Buffalo, UConn, Columbia, and Pitt, and since its become so late in the cycle, Im wondering if Im ever gonna hear from them, and perhaps I was forgotten??? Cheers!

BU cashed my check

That is all I ever heard from them. Its been almost 2 years and nothing in the mail. No Acceptance, interview, or rejection letter.

When I was applying to PG programs, Tufts(where I got my dental degree from) cashed my check and I never got a phone call nor a letter from them expressing anything. I didn't really much care because it was my backup(how ironic). Needless to say, because of that incident, the school certainly will never receive a dime from me in terms of a donation.

I applied in this last cycle, but out of the 10 schools that I applied to, I heard back from 9 of them except for one (Howard), I'm still waiting to hear from them. My friend applied last year and told me that he is still waiting to hear from them

Avingupta

I have had the same problem with a few schools this cycle. UNC, UConn and Illinois all cashed my check and I haven't heard a peep from them.

I feel badly for those of you who haven't heard either way from some schools, but it still begs the question: why haven't you contacted them?

No your right Gavin..I am going to contact them this week, but I just wanted to be sure I wasnt the only one in the same boat.....

Gavin,

I had been accepted to my top choice on Dec 1st, so I really had no need to contact those schools that did not contact me. I just thought it would be helpful to the readers of this thread if I shared my experience this cycle.

Same thing here. Got into the schools I wanted and really didn't care.

Aaronpsr and avingupta, good answers. I wasn't questioning what you had or hadn't done, but moreover addressing the point (for future applicants) that it is okay to contact the schools. Especially if one applied early the cycle and hasn't heard anything yet.

I called up UNLV once during my January winter-break vacation asking whether it would be possible to have an interview sometime in January because it happens I would be on vacation on the West Coast. I ended up having my file put back on review that day and an interview invitation two weeks later (whereas before I called my file was just sitting somewhere in a pile).

On the other hand, I interviewed at Minnesota on 12/5 and haven't heard from them since. Different school, different interest in the applicant. Minnesota's not my top choice, in any case.

Sometimes it's just blind luck, but if you push it along (politely) you may get something.

i sent my app on june 1st last year. like many, afew schools cashed my check and never bothered to send me anything.

I called Howard i think in early Jan and the lady told me "well, if you haven't heard from us by now, most likely the adcom isn't interested in you and don't want you". swear to god her exact words. i wanted to tell her that i would like to withdraw my app, but then i realized that there was noone on the other hand anymore. i doubt that there was any phone problems. she just had hang up on me.

Screw Howard! I bet you that secretary is so ******ed that she thinks she works at Harvard University rather than Howard University. Bunch of *******es over there!

btw, i haven't heard anything form VCU either. nothing at all.
thats the only folder in my closet thats still completely empty.

should i put them on my FAFSA app too?

yeah i havent heard from VCU, UNC or UOP.... i would almost appreciate a rejection letter to know i paid an app fee for a reason.

i forgot, i should have added Pitt in that list as well.

i am glad that at least not all schools treat their applicants in such manner.
i have been very very happy with 2 schools. IU- they have always let me know exactly whats going on in a timely manner.

UMKC was the other. they told me from the beggining (because i was from out of state) that my chances were slim and so they didn't wanna have me pay their fee as well as miss any other opportunities. inspite of the rejection, they were still kind enough to send me their calender. (i hate looking at that calender btw).

i wish i get accepted oon. i would soooo love to call and withdraw my app from these schools.
