Hi everybody,

Long time lurker, first time poster. This is my third time applying to medical school and I am planning to do a post bac this August. I have been admitted to EVMS's post bacc as well as Tulane's. I'm a VA resident so I would love to go to EVMS, but the increased class size at EVMS (Tulane's linkage last 5 years is 86%) and the lack of research at EVMS are scaring me. Do people expect that EVMS's percentage will remain around 86%? What would others pick?

Thanks!

I would think given your in-state status that EVMS would be your choice. Tulane's linkage seems decent, but personally I would go with EVMS. I read somewhere that someone doesn't expect the acceptance percentage to change despite the increased class size.

Any other thoughts?

In the case of EVMS, just remember that the percentage they post on their website (~90%) reflects acceptances to US medical schools, not simply linkage to EVMS. While that percentage might remain constant, the percent linkage will likely decrease given the continual yearly expansion of the program. From a numbers perspective, I don't see EVMS accepting much more than 30 MM students per application cycle moving forward.

By the way, that's not to discourage you from EVMS - I just graduated from the program and found it rewarding. Just wanted to give you a picture of how "linkage" is not as constant year-to-year as many initially assume.
