Hey, everyone! Luckily for me, I've been accepted into both EVMS and FIU, and as the May 15 deadline is tomorrow, I need to hear second opinions from SDN members. What school should I pick? Right now, I'm almost leaning towards EVMS, but a part of me says go for FIU for some reason😛. Thanks!

are you instate for either? I think both have hefty OOS tution, FIU moreso if I remember correctly. What is important to you? What do you consider the pros and cons of each school?

I'd go EVMS. No reason except that i've been to virginia beach / norfolk and liked the area (virginia beach, not so much norfolk).

I'm an OOS for both. In terms of $$, EVMS is cheaper by almost $18,000 per year and therefore should be an obvious pick, and the school also has awesome clinical training (Sentara hospital...standardized patient program...etc). But, FIU, on the other hand, has a very small class size (thus more individualized experience) and they have a unique focus on community health (I think their NeighborhoodHELP is such an innovative program.) But, since it's a brand-new school, I'm also worried about some hiccups along the way and especially how the lack of history would affect future residency placement. I really like both schools, and I'm so torn right now...😕

FIU is NOT, NOT, NOT worth $80k/year in tuition. That's obscene and smaller class size won't justify that cost. If you want to work in community health, make the effort to do so during medical school -- because I'm sure EVMS would allow for this just as much.

Go to EVMS.

hey guys...i lived right across the street from FIU as an undergrad. Their estimated Cost of living expenses is extremely high IMO.
realistically i think the price tag can be as low as $65-67K.
