You made the point that you are sick of seeing Veterans using their status to their advantage. This comes off very abrasive, especially from someone who is not a Veteran. You made the case that you "mentor" and speak with veterans often, as if this insight somehow warrants your opinion right. Point to any ad hominem attack I have made. I am telling you truths that are relevant to this thread. If you can not defend your point, by all means, leave.
Well now, seeing how you called me out.
1) Yes, I am sick of seeing veterans use their status as an excuse for not performing. I have seen it many MANY times. Are you telling me that you do not have veteran friends or acquiescence that complained that they are not getting a fair shake because "professor X has a grudge against vets" or "he should go easier on me because I have PTSD (even though they have never experienced anything close to combat)?" I doubt it. But even so, that is a moot point. I have seen what I have seen, and heard what I have heard with my own eyes and ears. You cannot disprove someone's observation, because I, throughout my argument, said that it was MY experience.
2) I am a service member, and have been one for 6 years. I have every right to make comments about veterans.
3) Yes, mentoring and tutoring the very people that I am commenting on gives me justification for my statement. VERY much so. I don't see how you can say it does not. Does not teachers have a viewpoint strong enough to make comments on students? Do not park rangers have a viewpoint strong enough to make comments on the foliage and wildlife of their parks? And opinions are opinions, I wasn't looking for a check in the right or wrong box.
4) No, not seeing truth, only self-righteous rebukes.
5) Lol, and I think I made my points quite clearly. And abrasive? Yes. I can see that. But seeing how different people have different levels of tolerance, it is impossible to not be abrasive to everyone. You seem very sensitive, therefore it comes off to YOU as overly abrasive.
