Hey guys! I've heard a lot of people say that the carribean schools are a lot easier to get into....how much easier? The reason I ask is because I did terrible my first year in college (2.5 and 2.7). After my second year in college, I got a 3.5 and 3.88.....my concern ( for US schools) is that my overall GPA will only be a 3.4ish...even if I do awesome from here on out! Ive pretty much given up hope for US schools...although I will still try! ....anyways would I be competitive at AUC or Ross with say a 3.4 overall and a 3.3 science GPA and a low to mid 20's MCAT?? I just havent heard or seen any stats on applicants/applied/accepted..etc Thanks for any help!!

some schools just need your cash. others have standards. You would probably be competitive for auc or ross but only one way to tell...

You should have no problem getting into AUC. I can't speak for ROSS. A lot of students that attend AUC are there for the same reasons that you're listing (less than desirable GPA or MCAT scores).

Consider DO school, Ireland, Australia, or St. Georges if you want to work on improving your MCAT.

If not, then AUC, Ross, Saba, St. Matthews follow. Your stats should get you into these good schools. They each have their own pros and cons.

Year of application: 2001 (Fall)

GPA: 3.5

MCAT: 26 (Took it only once)

Accepted:

D.O. schools (at 3 out of 5)
Ross University
St. George University

Decided to go Carribean over D.O. ( )

Decided to go to Ross over ST. George, b/c St. George was more expensive.

Good Luck

Bachelors: Chemical Engineering
GPA: 3.2
MCAT: 32
Didnt get into any US MD programs. I went to a DO school for 2 years and left. Applied to all foreign schools. Got into St. George and went there over any other schools. It's the best one even if its more expensive.

Good luck

why did you leave a DO school after being there for 2 years...may i ask? if you do not want to post it here please feel free to private message me
