I couldn't find a recent post about this, so I'm making a new one to check with the recent DAT-takers.

During the test,
- I read that you are given 2 laminated pieces of graph paper and a dry erase marker. Are you also given an eraser? If so, how well does it work? For example, would I be able to effectively erase my marks on my PAT grids and tables in order to reuse them instead of having to redraw them every time?

-During the 15-minute break, am I allowed to stay in the room? For the Reading Comprehension section I like to right out #1-50 with "ABCDE" next to each number to use for process of elimination. Will I be able to stay in the room during the break in order to write this all down before the Reading section starts?

-Am I allowed to jot down quick formulas and PAT grids and tables on the dry erase sheet during the tutorial?

Thank you so much in advance!

1. No eraser..you must raise your hand to get a new laminated piece of paper. You can use saliva to remove the ink if you like.
2. You can leave the room or stay in the room. And I don't see why you can't set up your paper like that...use the tutorial time to do that if you want.
3. Yes.

Thanks for the quick reply!
Kind of a bummer about the lack of eraser, it just seems to create wasted time and more hassle 🙁 They should just have us use pencil and paper in that case....

For question 3, it really depends on the proctor. My proctor had no issue with me taking notes and formatting my laminated sheets during the tutorial. I've read on SDN where proctors would come in and tell test takers to stop doing this during the tutorial.

Yeah, my proctor didn't let me write anything down during the tutorial :/ didn't really hurt me though since I finished TS with like 30 minutes left anyway, and drew all my grids then.

Fingers crossed that I get a nice proctor haha.
So if the dry erase sheet isn't erasable, how did you get through the PAT without going through like 10 sheets? Because for practice tests I've been setting up tic-tac-toe/connect 4-type grids for hole punch and a chart for cube counting, and erasing my marks/numbers in them whenever they got too messy.

You can easily put 20 grids on one side of a sheet, make yours smaller.
