Im trying to find good practice for the rc and Im wondering if anyone has used this book. Basically im looking for a good source that I can use daily for the RC... thanks 😀

Examkrackers verbal is a toss up... it's good in a sense because you're practicing reading passages and answering the questions. So just based on that, I say it's a good resource. But you also have to consider that the MCAT verbal section is quite a bit different then the RC section on the DAT. It asks A LOT harder questions and tends to have a lot more inference questions. In the post bacc program I'm in, there were 7 medical post bacc students; so for our Analytical Reading class we did a lot of Examkrackers passages. I guess I would say go ahead and use it, because it definitely can not hurt you. Just don't feel discouraged since it's quite a bit different from the RC.

Good Luck!

I have the book, read only about 1/4 of the passages. I will not recommend it because it is nothing like the real DAT. Kinda waste your time IMO. Just read archiver and topscore and practice S&D. Plus read background info on wiki will help also help.

Mind me to ask what "background info on wiki" you were referring to? Thanks!

MCAT verbal has nothing to do with DAT RC.

One is 95% tone questions (MCAT) and the other is approx 70% just finding factual information in a long passage (DAT)

There are 2 ways you master DAT RC:
1) Luck
2) get an attack plan for how your going to attack the passages, are you going to read it all then answer? are you going to "search and destroy"? are you confused and dont' know what your going to do (that was me) ?

The thing about RC is, its a skill you either have or you don't have. You will not be able to improve your reading ability in a matter of 3-4 months, cause it usually takes years.

I "winged" it when it came to DAT RC, EVERY RC test i ever took before the DAT I was always getting 14-16, so I was very frustrated and about 2 months before my actual DAT, I stopped doing any RC and just decided to relay on my luck. I ended up with a 19 on the real deal, 19 isn't great, but it isn't terrible either

DATlongshui like I said in my previous post, It WON'T hurt you to use it. Definitely don't rely on it because, like I said and others have said, it's nothing like the RC section of the DAT. In the analytical reading class I took, we used Examkrackers passages and Kaplan DAT passages, and my score went up from a 20 to 23.

I certainly agree with dentalWorks in that you need to have a strategy and that you should stick to that strategy; but exposing yourself to foreign reading material in the form of passages will only train you to extract more info out of passages, and this will help you in the long run.
