Can someone tell me how many finals you have in yr 1?

I know some dental schools in Asia they combine all yr 1 courses in one 3 hour exam.

Their transcript only shows 1 grade for like 8-10 different subjects.

wierd huh?

two semesters during year 1

anywhere from 8 to 15 finals per semester

anywhere from 15 to 30 final exams per year

these numbers are approximate

Yah- E

So at Nova your transcript for year 1 would have approx 15- 30 grades right?

Yes

But I think at majority of the US dental schools, you'll have that many grades on the transcript per year.

Our grades at IUSD get are pretty consolidated. Our courses are all semester-long, but they're divided functionally into modules. We get a grade for each module, but the module grades are all recombined to just a few course grades each semester.

Our curriculum is a bit different than other schools, but we have:

20 grades from first semester and 12 grades from second semester.

We'll have roughly 36 exams by the time the first year is done, and 99% of those would be considered "final exams," since we have one exam for most courses.

And Bill's post reminded me of something somewhat cool about our schedule: we get grades each week from the previous week's course.

So, we've been getting grades all along. No need to wait until the end of the semester, since most courses are only a week long this first semester.

We start and stop classes as different times, some classes are 4 weeks, some all year long, so we dont have semesters. We have a test pretty much every single week of the semester, sometimes 2 per week. So we have had around 15 tests already and 4 finals this "semester".

We have six finals at Temple University. Two courses are cumulative BIochem and Restorative Dentistry. The tests are all lumped toghther at the end of the semester. A true procrastinators nightmare.

I cant wait sarcasm intended. You sophmores are crazy always studying and always in the preclinic. lol. Yah freshman year was pretty easy. I went to the Jersey beach like 2 or 3 times earlier in the semester during the week. I had all these fears that I would just die in dental school but I guess my casket is only a half a year away.😱
