this is a question that I've asked around and haven't really gotten a good answer for but other than genetics why do some people sweat more than others during excercise? Is excessive sweating need to be worked up? Any suggestions for a differential diagnosis?

People who're better conditioned actually have a more robust sweating response during exercise than out-of-shape fatties, ie they start sweating faster and sweat more. It's like any stress response, where those who've had previous experience to the stressor have a faster, more robust response than naive people. But, well-conditioned individuals also go back to baseline faster once the exercise is over.

From personal experience, though, it does seem like fatties are more likely to be sweating while at rest.
