I was wondering if anyone else had this sort of problem? It seems that wherever I am, my hands are excessively sweaty - whether I'm studying and taking notes or in the clinic seeing patients. I don't mind as much when I am just studying (although it's a bit annoying when I am taking notes and things get all smudgy), but when I see patient's its a problem as I am sure no one likes shaking a damp hand or being palpated by one. This also gives me a problem when I have to sanitize constantly with purell in the hospital and it just mixing with the sweat. Don't know if this is a common problem, but was wondering if anyone had any useful tips to reduce the sweatiness...

I have the same problem but only when I'm about to shake hands with someone or examine a patient...it's really embarrassing and I haven't found a way to control this. I think this is mainly 'cause I have excessive anxiety (especially during physical contact) that my hands sweat like crazy (just the hands).

T3 sympathectomy is your best bet. Take a week off from school and get this taken care of.

That is very debatable. I have hyperhidrosis as well, and I considered a sympathectomy, but there is not enough evidence where I could whole heartedly go and cut my nerves, especially with the possible side effects and the fact it might not even work. My advice, deal with it, no one else notices but you. There are success stories and horror stories, but make sure you weigh the pros and cons of the procedure very carefully.

I know a lot of people don't trust it... but... I have a couple friends who had sweaty hands and they got acupuncture for it. Took 2-3 months going 1-3 times a week. It got better every week.

-Good Luck

When I opened up this thread google had a banner ad for treatment of excessive sweating. Go Google!

well... i'm sure a derm could prescribe you a cream.

last time i was in a stressful situation, i just did the excellent wipe hands on pants while no one is looking technique.

My brother had a sympathectomy a few years ago and it was such a big relief for him. No complications whatsoever and he has no regrets at all.

Wow, you're right about the google ads.
To OP, hope things work out for you.

Just keep in mind that the primary complication from this procedure is "compensatory sweating" in other areas--most notably the low back and buttocks. You may just be trading the dreaded sweaty palms for a permanent, grade A case of swamp ass.

As others have mentioned, antiperspirants are the first try here. Check out CertainDri. If that doesn't work for you, visit your GP or derm who will likely give you a script for Drysol.

Remember, as per instructions, these are used before bed--not in the morning.

If all else fails, then you can think about surgery.

You could get botox injections in your hand every three months or so..that will stop the sweating for sure. I actually know a few people who have done this.

can you use certain dri on your hands? I use it on my soles and it is unbelievable.
