So I'm reading MTB step 2, and theres an exclusion list for MTX therapy for pts who have an ectopic pregnancy. the first one is:

"Patients who have completed their families."

So I imagine they mean someone whos done having kids... But whats the rationale? I mean, oversimplifying it, MTX has some nasty side effects etc... Shouldnt the exclusion criteria be someone who WANTS to get pregnant again??😕

sorry, does nobody know what I'm talking about? its on page 449.

Or is this that dumb of a question? Please explain 🙁

I think what he's trying to get at is if a woman has an ectopic who is 45 and has no desire to ever have children again, she should probably just get a tubal since shes at high risk for another ectopic (Which could rupture then and be life threatening) and methotrexate is chock full of nasty side effects. However if it is a young woman, you probably want to try everything you can to save the tubes for later, plus avoiding a surgical procedure in a young person is always preferred.

Not saying that that's necessarily the real world line of thinking, but that seems to me what he is trying to say.
