Do dental schools require/prefer dental experience in their applicants?

I have majored in finance and have been working in the financial industry to a few years; however, I would like to change careers and enter dental school. That being said I do not have any dental experience but I do have work experience. Will this affect my chances of being admitted?

Dental schools have prerequisites, and they're pretty ironclad. Your business background would certainly look good on an application package, but you're wasting your money if you don't complete the required coursework.

If I am applying for 2004, I will be fine as long as I fulfill the hours of requirement to get in before I attend, right?

Yes, I do realize that shadowing and other experience is very important besides fulfilling the required hours.
