I had it on my app and they accepted me. I had to write a little paragraph explaining the situation and when it happened etc but no big deal.

Just know that there is a limit to the number of times and it is a bright line cutoff. I think that is something like seven times, but I'm not sure on the number. I had done it a few times and also had to do a little write up (for the Air Force, I was outside the Navy window in years). I was never asked about it again.

ok thats good to know.....u think thats the same for the other branches?.....I want to go Air Force.....I'm matrix qualified but i was worried that admitting i tried it a couple times like 2 yrs. ago would screw me over

It is never smart to lie to the federal government (no matter what a recruiter tells you), especially when huge amounts of money are at stake. Plus, if it was only a couple of times, you will be fine. I told the Air Force I did it four or five times it was not an issue.

They care because they don't want a pothead who can manage to quit smoking for a month before the drug test. I'm sure hoardes of people have lied without any repercussions, but like I said to the guy above, remember that there are harsh repercussions if the lie is ever discovered.
