Expunged felony and how it could potentially ruin chances?

What a douche... though funny.

Also, you guys realize this thread is from a year ago, right?

Yea, I absolutely knew that and that scares the hell out of me. Even if they don't directly ask me, after the acceptance (granted there is one...lol), they can pull it up. As far as I know, all it will say is the date followed by the statement "record expunged." I'm sure they have the right to ask me about it and I will definitely own up to it and explain. But, do they have the right to send me packing right then and there?

I think an expunged case (but not the record or details themselves) will be revealed in a criminal background check done by government agencies, liscencing boards, & private and public schools. Expungement and non-conviction is the best I could have hoped for, but I think it will still ruin me. 🙁
There is one critical element you are missing. Its the fact that you had to plea guilty in exchange for a diversion and subsequent expungement. Many, if not all professional lisencing boards equate a plea of guilty or nolo contende with a conviction for their purposes of evaluating candidates. And because they have access to expunged records, they are going to see that you were guilty of a drug felony. What they do with that is anyones guess, but it would be a shame to go through all your training only to get denied on that basis in the end.

And if this guy still posted on SDN, he'd be able to tell you exactly what happened at the end of all of his training, as the discussion is 7yrs old. 😛

As you just joined yesterday, here are some pointers: for threads such as this, pertaining to someone's personal situation (rather than a general question which may benefit people regardless of year), it is always helpful to check the date of the last post. If it is over a year or so old, it's generally best just to leave it, as the situation will have resolved in one way or another.
If you check the date, it's old, and you still want to ask someone in the thread for followup or clarification (this should be rare), I recommend clicking on their username. A little summary of their profile will pop up. At the bottom it will say "Member last seen [date]." This is the last time they viewed anything on SDN. If it's been a while, odds are they won't respond, sorry. In this case, OP hasn't been on SDN in 7yrs.

By the way, welcome to SDN! Good luck! :welcome:
