Extend DAT Date???

Hey guys, I am currently scheduled to take the DATs on August 2nd, but because I feel I am still not ready, I want to extend it two more weeks. Do you think dental schools will look down on this or will they even find out? I have submitted my application with planned DAT as august 2nd so will I still be able to change it?

You are cutting it close in August. Do u already have everything submitted? Make sure all of that is taken care of. Take the DAT as SOON as u feel ready but aim to get it done no later than august. Interviews begin in Sept for most schools. IF u do not feel ready, dont rush bc u cant affort to mess up cuz then retaking would not be an option bc it would fall way too late in the cycle. Make sure u have the DESTROYER! Trust me it is the ONE tool that u MUST have! It will really prep u for the sciences, especially for this new Bio conceptual stuff that has been appearing lately. Just crunch down and do nothin gbut DAT, like 10-12 hr a day if u can and it will be over b4 u know it. Good Luck!🙂

Umm..I would say do not reschedule..you are not cutting it close by any means, BUT, the more you delay, the less you will study now because you will say "I have an extra two weeks!" You're gonna feel the same way in two weeks that you feel now any way. Just study your butt off and take.

I don't see how dental schools would find out. But like everyone else said, your biggest issue is the late timing.

You will be fine if you move it back two more weeks (assuming everything else is in order). Better to take it a little late and feel confident than to rush it and have to retake in october - which is very late. You will be a little behind timeline-wise, but not bad enough to really hurt you at most schools.

I think you can change the date as long as it is 48 hours in advance (not sure though). Dental schools will only know that you have not taken the DAT yet, they wouldn't care that you post-poned it either.

I have been studying for a while now, but I cant get the scores I want. My scores vary from test to test, sometimes 16 sometimes, 17, and still cant get to 18!! I dont know what is up with me and this test... Another question I have is, with my GPA, whats the worst you think I can do and still have a shot getting in somewhere???

how dude i got ur same gpa..like are u taking some hard ass tests or what? b/c if ur a biochem or a real science major you should make a mininum of 19-22 range really easily

I am a bio major, and also man the scale just sucks... you miss few and you go down so much.... i dont know what is up.. i am taking the tests kaplan gives so i dont know whats up... have any tips? have u taken the DAT's yet?? I am going to start destroyer on monday...

i'm in the same boat...not seeing my scores yet but have faith that they will go up with more work even thoug it's at the risk of pushing my apps more. I haven't even been verfied yet though so I think by the time all that gets done as long as I don't take DATs any later than that I should be ok...plus we're already kinda later then everyone on here so i feel we need an amazing score just to keep up👍

i changed the date when i took the dat last year from a friday to following monday - Aug 7th (i remember thinking last year that i'd probably do better if i had the weekend to relax / study a wee bit more, than taking it at the end of a busy work week) everything worked out fine - i had a handful of dec 1st acceptances

august 2nd and 9th should be fine - just get those apps and letters of rec out early

D.D.S. i noticed (and i think many others on the forum too) that my scores were much lower on the practice exams than on the real deal. so don't worry about it, just study hard until Aug 2 and don't stress and you'll be fine. 🙂
