Extension on Deposit

You can always call the school and see if they can extend it. No harm done there for just asking. If what holds you back is waiting on decisions from other schools (especially ones that you've already interviewed at) I'd call them as well and see where they are on your application. At least you know you will definitely be a med student!

I did. Just email the adcom director and see what he/she says. They are usually pretty good about working with you. The only problem I see is that this late into the game, they may be less willing to wait. I had my first acceptance relatively early in the process so the school could afford to let me 'wait it out' but you'll never know unless you ask. 🙂
Most schools will give you an extension if you have a good excuse (i.e., fanancial issues) but don't expect it to be a more than a week or two.
It's possible, but not likely, especially if you want an extension so that you can go to another school. Look at it this way, what's another $1500 when it comes down to it. It wouldn't hurt to ask, but if they say no, it's worth it just to make the payment, rather than have to wait another year to go to school.
it is only 2k. how are you going to pay 30k+ in med school if you cannot get 2k?
