During what year of dental school do people usually go on externships? Also, how do you set it up.. is there a formal application process? I'm a D1 and I have no clue how this works, can someone please shed some light? Thanks!

I'm not even in dental school but Ive done my research. Go look at school websites....some specifically say what year you must be. Others say, "must be familiar with extractions" for oms programs. Stuff like that. They seem to be very upfront about it so just start your searchin!
But generally...they seem to ask for at least your first 2 years to be done. I bet it depends on you personally, your school's curriculum, board scores if taken, blah blah blah.
