Hi all,

I wanted some quick advice on extra LORs. I satisfy the LOR requirement for all 30 of my schools with 2 science (1 orgo & 1 bio), 1 PI, and 1 M.D.

I also requested one from my physics professor several weeks ago. I did extremely well in his class, 99% overall, 100% on the final, attended office hours every week, and was active on the online discussion board answering student inquiries.

I originally gave my professor a deadline of July 1st (followed-up a week before), but never followed up after he missed the deadline.

Should I bother trying to get this letter? I know a quick nudge would probably work, but I don't want it if I don't need it.

Thanks all!

If you think it'll be a great letter, then it's definitely worth getting. I had a similar relationship with my physics teacher, but had to send 2 follow up emails over the course of a month to get her to finally send it to interfolio. Professors are busy, just be polite and I'm sure they won't mind.

It can't hurt to have an additional strong letter (as long as its within the school's allowed number of letters). It may not be super helpful since you already have two science letters, but it definitely can't hurt. The more people you can get to praise you, the better. Good luck!

I honestly don't think it's going to matter.

You described the relationship as you did well in the class/posted alot on the boards. Everyone else is going to say you're smart and worked hard. If you didn't have a relationship to where he can really talk about your other attributes, it doesn't bring much to the table.
