Hey everyone,

Does anyone know what happens to extra letter of recommendations we send to them? All schools have different requirements in regards to LOR's, but I'm wondering if they just toss it and not even read the letters that were not required?

I finally (after 2 months) got my second science prof's letter but I have a good relationship with the lab manager/instructional assistant, whom I believe would write me a strong LOR.

Any thoughts?

I don't think there are "extra" LORs. I think if they are considering your application (e.g you have a high enough GPA/MCAT) they read all your LORs assuming you only send them 5-6 total and not 20+.

Ok. Do you think a letter from instructional assistant/lab manager is not 'worth' much in the eyes of adcoms?

Probably not. Any extra letters that you send schools they will usually just put aside and not read. If they haven't written the letter then I wouldn't have them do it.
