Hi all, I was wondering if anyone here got accepted to a pretty respectable and/or their preferred dental school even though they didn't join any clubs or campus organizations during undergrad years?? I'm not in ANY club, but I do volunteer here and there...what are the chances in your opinons? thanks folks

It wont be the end of your career if you chose not to join any organizations at school. Admissions committees just want to see that you do have a kind heart and a life outside of school. This means participating in things like volunteer work, jobs, or hobbies too. Being in a club is not a prerequisite for admission into dental school. 🙂

In the end, DAT score and GPA matter a whole lot. Don't sweat if you didn't do any volunteering... I didn't do anything either. Just keep up your GPA and achieve 20 DAT and PAT... you'll be good.

Wow, I'm surprised that you can get into dental school without any volunteering experience. If you have killer stats, then more power to ya. I would get some organized volunteering in.

I think as long as you did something, like worked, played a lot of video games to enhance your manual dexterity, or drank a lot of beer to increase your alcohol tolerance, you should be ok. I think ADCOMs like diversity like this. I mean, they liked the fact that I had done drive-bys in a tank.

I think they like to see that you job shadowed a lot too... I'm not involved in any clubs besides honor societies that everyone knows don't require any involvement. I got the impression that your GPA matters a lot because they want to know you're serious about school and that you can handle the course load and they exams that are thrown at you. Your interview will show if you're able to talk and get along w/people.
