Hi!

I noticed that a lot of people who are applying to pre-pharmacy school are peer advisors--either it's student pharmacy advisor, major advisor, etc. I was wondering if this looks good? I don't mind helping other students with scheduling their classes to fit in the pre-reqs, talking to students about pharmacy school, etc. but I do know that being a peer advisor is VERY time consuming (especially around like May). So I was wondering if I should apply to be a peer advisor if it would look good on my application as a leadership thing because if it doesn't, I don't know if all the time the job is going to take is worth it.

I'm already involved in a nonprofit clinic that provides free healthcare to low income families. I was wondering if this might be considered a leadership activity? Although I feel like all of us are leaders at the clinic, not all of us have the title of "president" or "secretary" etc.

You may be surprised that the activities you are currently involved in already show leadership. By no means is it necessary to become a peer adviser to show leadership for your resume, unless that is what interests you. Leadership is not only visible in extracurriculars, it can be leading a project amongst your peers at school or correcting a problem at your job... Leadership is a quality, not a position. It does not need to have the tag-line of president at the end to be substantial. 🙂
