Quick question on this topic, can I fill my EC requirements with being an artists when I apply to Dental School? I've been drawing since I was very very young and still do occasionally. I have created some really good art work over the past year and just think that I should at least get credit for them in some way. What are your thoughts, should I join some kind of club during my post-bacc, volunteer, or just stick with the Art stuff?

P.S. I'm also an active soccer player who's played on many teams, even semi-pro before. Currently I play on the weekends.

I really think that your skill is very crucial; it should definitely be in your application. It covers the creativity (and hands-eye coordination) part of the application. However, it should not be your sole EC. Most schools are looking for well-rounded applicants. So, I think you should display your skills in other things too.

Joining clubs and volunteering is a great idea. It would show them how you have been exposed to health care field, which could eventually help you in your statement. You can mention how you understand what it takes to be in the field and how sure you are to pursue a career in dentistry.
